Lithium polymer battery charging and bulging repair skills

1. First make sure you use the correct charger

Charge any polymer lithium-ion battery at 1C. Almost all drone lithium-ion batteries can be charged at 1C and should be charged at this rate. 1C charging does take a while, but this charging speed is the easiest for your lithium-ion battery charger and will not cause overheating. This charging rate will provide the longest lifespan for your battery and let the balance port do its job. For example, a 3400mAh battery charged at 1C sets the charger to a charging rate of 3.4 amps.

During the charging process, the battery and battery pack are placed in a fireproof bag for charging. I don't see any reason to not charge the battery in a fireproof bag. If your charger is equipped with a temperature probe, be sure to put it in the bag. If everything is packed in a fireproof bag, you can complete the charging easily and completely.

2. Don't let your battery fall below the minimum voltage

This is a flying problem, not a charging problem, but it has to be solved. When flying, try not to let the battery run out until the speed control starts to turn off unless you replace it. Then you have more time and more battery until you land the drone. This prevents the drone from fried chicken. You can control the minimum speed cut-off value and set it above the minimum voltage of the battery pack to have some extra time to set up the landing. I like timing, my first flight until the speed control is cut off, and then I set my timer on one minute before the launcher and on all voyages after that, I found that the launcher landed immediately after the timer was off Drone.

3. An accident will happen unless the manufacturer’s battery allows

Charge the battery to above 1C. If the battery is using a higher charging rate, this can save a lot of time when needed. If not, try not to charge these batteries with higher ratings. But other than that, I always use a slower rate at home because it will extend battery life.

4. Please do not leave the room when your battery is installed with a charger

This is a mistake that almost everyone makes, the number one safety issue when charging. If you do not leave the room, this prevents any minor accident from becoming a major event. When you are not in the room, while charging, fire can happen at any time. While charging, you need to monitor your battery there. If you must leave the room, stop the charger and disconnect the battery from the charging cable. Then when you return to the room to charge again.

5. If your battery has not been used for more than a week

Then please charge your batteries, which will keep them balanced and stable. Stored charge can prevent a single battery from becoming unstable and losing balance. I almost always charge my battery and then fully charge it the night before.

Repair tips for bulge of polymer lithium ion battery pack

1. Preparation

Find a ventilated place, prepare the polymer lithium ion battery pack, scissors, bill holder, toothpicks, 705 transparent silicone rubber, scotch tape, syringe, and infusion needle with a plastic tube (must be the smallest size);

Two, pumping preparation

Connect the syringe to the infusion needle, hold the needle in a suitable position at the seal of the lithium ion battery pack, and then fix the needle with tape to keep it from shifting. Use a toothpick to take a small amount of 705 silicone rubber and apply it near the needle to prevent air leakage .

3. Extract gas

Pull the syringe to extract the gas from the battery. After a full tube, clamp the plastic tube of the needle with a bill holder to separate the syringe from the needle and exhaust the gas (Although the gas in the battery is non-toxic, it smells bad, so find a A ventilated place), then connect the syringe to the needle and repeat the operation.

Fourth, seal

After many operations, the encapsulated aluminum film of the battery will gradually tighten and close to the battery body, and the polymer lithium ion battery pack will become very hard. When the gas cannot be extracted and the battery is close to the vacuum state, clamp the plastic tube behind the needle with a clip, cut a small piece (1cm square) of transparent tape with scissors, and stick it to the needle hole, press it and set the needle. The operation is complete.

Five, quality inspection

Because the pinhole is very small and sealed with silicone rubber and transparent tape, the gas will not enter the battery. After a few hours after the silicone rubber is cured, test the lithium-ion battery pack. First, use a small current to fully charge and discharge several times. If the problem of bulging no longer occurs, the treatment is completed. If there is still gas, you can follow the above process again and operate again. If it still cannot be solved, the battery has been scrapped. After the above-mentioned treatment, the more than ten swollen polymer lithium-ion batteries that I purchased at a low price on the shopping network have been restored to normal use with good results.
